Free tobacco-quitting class starts Tuesday
The Clinton County Health Department will offer another set of free tobacco cessation classes to all Clinton County residents. The classes are for individuals ages 18 and older who would like to quit using any type of tobacco product: cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, snuff, chew and so on.
Classes will begin 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday, Oct. 20. The classes will be held at the Clinton County Health Department, located at 111 S. Nelson Ave. in Wilmington.
The series of classes will be held consecutively, every Tuesday for six weeks. Class time is one hour per week.
To register in advance for the classes, call 725-2737. Walk-ins on the first night of class also are welcome.
The classes are conducted by Anita Stanley, who is a member of Tobacco-Free Healthy Communities and a certified tobacco treatment specialist. Her certification in the field was obtained through the Mayo Clinic of Rochester, Minn.
The Ohio Department of Health and Tobacco-Free Healthy Communities provides this free service to 13 counties in southwest Ohio. Clinton County is among those 13.
Funding for the program is provided by a grant through the Ohio Department of Health and is administered through the Greene County Combined Health District in Xenia.
