Smokefree Initiatives

In 2008 the regulation of Law 28705 took place, which includes smokefree provisions (public places, hospitals of all kinds and at all schools, including universities). The law regulates that entertainment areas must be physically separated and smoke extractors must used, it also states that the smoking areas must be no greater than 20% of the total area.

In February 2009 two parliamentary initiatives were introduced to Congress, both seeking to amend the Law,to ensure all public places are smokefree.
