Background

Smokefree legislation was introduced in 1995 but is very weak.

Smokefree legislation/initiatives

A comprehensive smokefree law is being adopted in 2008/9. It covers all public places and workplaces. No DSRs are allowed. However, restaurant owners have called for ‘more moderate’ legislation (GL NIMI 13 April 2009).

The action plan of the Tobacco Control Strategy of the Republic of Serbia was due to be in 2008. Serbia is planning to implement the FCTC and prepare a report for WHO.

National Smokefree Campaign – includes celebrating WNTD. (Quit and Win campaign also planned)
