Smokefree legislation/initiatives

The Samoan Tobacco Control Act was passed in July 2008 prohibiting smoking in all public places including healthcare, educational and government facilities, indoor workplaces and public transport. There are exemptions in certain institutions and smoking areas are allowed in bars and restaurants. The policy is monitored and the terms “smokefree” and “public place” are well defined.
