Quit for Love

Valentine day is one of the special days in the year and you would want to express your love to your dear one. Flowers with a candle love and healthlight dinner could be romantic, but Pennsylvania took a different route by introducing a campaign called as “Quit for love”. The department of health is offering free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) kits to support the tobacco quitting in name of love. The kits will be given starting from 14 Feb, Valentines Day.

It is well documented in medical journals that smoking and/ or chewing tobacco is a major risk factor for heart disease and/or cancer. If you would like to follow a healthy lifestyle by quitting tobacco, call he state’s Free Quitline (1-800-QUIT-NOW) and participate in “Quit for love” campaign.

You don’t have to pay for the NRT kit; it is paid for by funding from the federal stimulus program and the Master Settlement Agreement. The kits will be distributed for six to eight weeks or while supplies last. After you call 1-800-QUIT-NOW, quit coaches will you your quit date and if you have any medical conditions that would rule out the safe use of nicotine patches. You will then be enrolled in a series of free counseling sessions.
